What is Bunky?

Bunky is a free roommate matching app for iPhone and Android. You make a profile, match with people who live the way you do, and message once you are both interested. Bunky has communities at 800+ US colleges and roommate search in New York City, and 200K+ people have used it.

Is Bunky free?

Yes. Bunky is free to download, and making a profile, matching and messaging are all free. The free plan comes with a set number of likes and chat requests. Optional upgrades, such as Bunky Pro and profile boosts, give you more of both, plus extras like seeing who liked you and read receipts. Prices are shown in the app.

How does Bunky work?

1. Make your profile with photos, prompt answers, your dealbreakers, your move-in date and your budget.
2. Browse people at your school, or people moving to New York City.
3. Like or send a chat request to the people you could see yourself living with.
4. Message when it is mutual. A chat opens when you both like each other or your chat request is accepted.

Which colleges is Bunky at?

Bunky has communities at 800+ colleges across the US. Pick your school when you sign up to see the students there who are looking for roommates.

Why isn’t my school open yet?

A school’s community opens once enough students from that school have joined, so there are real people to match with from day one. Until then you can finish your profile, and the more classmates who join, the sooner it opens.

Can I use Bunky if I’m not a student?

Yes, in New York City. Bunky’s NYC roommate search is open to anyone moving to the city, including interns, new grads and people relocating for work. College communities are for students at that school.

Is Bunky on Android?

Yes. Bunky is on both the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android.

How does Bunky keep you safe?

You can report or block anyone in the app, and chats only open when both people are interested. Before you agree to live with someone:

• Video call before you meet, then meet in a public place first.
• Never send money or a deposit to someone you have not met.
• Tell a friend who you are meeting, and trust your instincts.

How do I get more replies?

• Finish your profile. Recent photos and real prompt answers give people something to reply to.
• Add your move-in date and budget so the people who match you are looking at the same time and price.
• Open with something specific from their profile, not just “hey”.
• Reply quickly. Roommate searches move fast close to move-in.

How do I delete my Bunky account?

Open Settings in the Bunky app and tap Delete account at the bottom. To ask what information Bunky holds about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, use our data rights request form.

Who makes Bunky?
